Join our 2011 Memorial Day Photo Contest
Cemeteries can create positive publicity and enhance their Memorial Day programs by participating in Funeralwise.com's Memorial Day Photo Contest. To participate, a cemetery simply publicizes the photo contest in its community and invites local residents to enter photos taken within the cemetery. Participation is free of charge to cemeteries and contestants.
About the Contest
This photography contest will recognize and reward photographers whose images convey the meaning and emotion associated with Memorial Day in cemeteries across the United States. Photos will be judged on their creativity, photographic quality and the ideas/emotions conveyed. Cash prizes, with a $500 Grand Prize, will be awarded for images submitted to Funeralwise.com by June 15, 2011. Pictures taken by both amateur and professional photographers are welcome. A panel of judges will select twelve (12) finalists which will be displayed on Funeralwise.com’s Facebook pages. Winners will be selected by Facebook Fan voting. Cemetery employees are eligible to enter photos in the contest.

The contest is administered entirely by Funeralwise.com. Participating cemeteries can promote the contest in any manner and via any media in their community. The only requirement is that the Funeralwise.com name be associated prominantly with the contest in any advertisements and press releases. Cemeteries will not be granted any geographic exclusivity - it's possible there will be more than one participating cemetery in a community.
Cemeteries can download and use the following "boilerplate" materials to promote the photo contest.

“Memorial Day for cemeteries is like the Super Bowl for advertisers,” said Larry Anspach, co-founder of Funeralwise.com and former cemetery owner. “There is a high volume of visitor traffic over the weekend so it’s a good opportunity to connect with families and generate leads. People were enthusiastic about the photo contests we ran in our cemetery over the years. And it’s the kind of feel-good event that you can promote to raise the cemetery’s profile in the community.”
