Should I attend the visitation or the funeral for the spouse of a coworker?

If I am a work friend of someone whose husband has died, do I attend the viewing or the funeral?`You would attend the visitation. However, this depends on how close your relationship is with your work friend – typically, you would pay your respects and acknowledge your coworker’s loss at the visitation or viewing. You can certainly attend the funeral as well, yet this is generally not expected of coworkers unless you are close to the coworker.
